Use Active Voice for Readers to Take Action

If you want a call to action that will really make your readers act or do something about what you’ve written, then write using active voice. How do you do this? Here are two simple guidelines:

1. Know when a sentence uses a passive voice – when you make the object of an action into the subject of a sentence or simply put, when a sentence uses the verb “to be.”

2. Use present tense as much as possible – Avoid using future tense. For example, instead of writing “will finish”, use “finishes” instead.
