Also, according to the Monetate Q1 2013 Ecommerce Quarterly, in Q1 2013 tablets exceeded traditional desktop devices for conversion rates for the first time which means that people are increasingly comfortable with the experience of buying on tablets. It also showed that smartphones in general are more of a browse or research platform rather than a buy platform since many of the large retailers featured in this survey will have mobile optimized sites.
All this means is that more and more people are turning to mobile devices for their needs so if you are selling products or services, it would be best if you have websites optimized for mobile browsing and buying.
